POCC LEAD Housing Committee Video

illexotic LLC was contracted to create this video for the POCC LEAD Housing Committee. It was recorded over the span of 4 different sessions and shaped by the committee members. We ensured that the voice of the entire group was infused into the final product and anyone who wanted to be on camera got the chance to be. The project was carried out by Corinita (me) with assistance at the actual filming days by Josh. Outside of that, I carried out the filming, file management, sound mixing, transitionary elements, graphics, video editing and coordination of the filming. Challenges included not everyone in the group having reliable transportation and the county building where we would usually have our gatherings and activities was closed due to shelter in place. We coordinated to find everyone rides to be filmed and we found alternate filming spaces at the Black Men Speak office in Oakland, CA. The project was finished in time to showcase at the LEAD conference in Sacramento, CA in June of 2023.

Mental Health Monday Video Series

This was a weekly video series I would create for illexotic LLC. By the final video I had covered an array of topics through the peer lense, talked about peer values, and incorporated recovery language. In this video series I created the outlines, did additional research, created the intro, outro and thumbnail, recorded and edited the video and audio, added original music, generated the closed captioning using a program called Simon Says and posted the videos to Youtube. I also set up the lighting and we created a whole studio space with our illexotic branding in mind.

6 Minutes with Sally Zinman

I was contracted to create this video for the POCC. This was a very meaningful video to create as it was interviewing Sally about her life in the last months before her passing. I had to edit quickly for her lifetime achievement celebration and because on the 3rd and final day of filming she made a comment with a bit of humor in her voice “I hope you can edit the video quickly, I’d love to see it before I die” Some of the challenges with this video were that Sally was very ill towards the end of her life and she had trouble breathing and talking loudly. On top of her challenges with speaking and fatigue, due to her health we couldn’t leave her house for interviewing in a quiet setting. During filming there was a lot of ambient house noise going on in conjunction with her very soft voice. I was able to boost the voice and cut out the frequencies that the unwanted artifacts existed in. The 6 minute video was finished in time to show at Sally’s lifetime achievement celebration and she said I managed to take what was easily 4-8 hours of footage and summarize the points she wanted to communicate through the video in a concise manner.

POCC Advocacy Song

This song was created for the POCC as a theme song for their conferences and events. I focused on creating something catchy and easy to sing with simple production. The coolest thing about this song is in the final chorus, there are voices of the POCC members used. When I went to record them, many were nervous and said they are not musically inclined. I made sure to put them at ease and get them recorded with no judgement which lead to them leaving feeling proud of their contribution. Not every vocal aligned or was in tune and I was able to fix that in editing. It came out great and anyone who wanted to record got to. There are core members who have passed away in the past years whose voices are immortalized in this ear worm. Something I appreciate about this song is the impact it has on the whole community.

Fund the Community Fundraiser Event

For this event, I created the flyers in the carousel gallery. These were run on our social media up to a month before the event. We did not pay for ads and were still able to garner enough attention to get our fundraiser to exceed it’s goal.
